How I got here.

I spent a good part of the last 15 years volunteering at my children's schools and at our synagogue. Along the way, I learned a lot about programming, publicity and communicating effectively.

I was PTO President at our elementary school for four years. A few years later, after three years as the PTO President at our high school, I was asked to take on a two-year term as Co-President of Great Neck's United Parent-Teacher Council, the highest level of parent leadership. Several months into that role, COVID caused everything to go remote. Amidst the confusion, frustration, and concern about the unknown, communication was key.

Throughout my years of PTO involvement, I helped organize and run events, created surveys to gather parent input, and wrote marketing emails to promote parent involvement as well as to encourage support of the school district budget. Mostly, as I led an executive board of over 20 parents, I took into account different points of view, as we focused on creating programming that mattered to parents, and worked with other parents and administrators on solutions to problems. In addition, I served on selection committees for a new principal and a new assistant principal.

At my synagogue, Temple Israel of Great Neck, I served on many committees over the years, chairing a few, and was a member of the Board of Trustees for six years. I continue to chair the Communications Committee, and was involved in the planning of a few dinner galas, co-chairing two of them.

In the fall of 2020, I worked on the redesign of Temple Israel's website, which went live in early 2021. For that project, I designed the new logo, chose the fonts and colors for the website, and came up with the layout of several of the pages. In late 2021, I redesigned Temple Israel's long-standing newsletter, the Voice, and have been doing the layout and design for it since the January 2022 issue. I also do some updates to Temple Israel's website.

Before my children were born, I spent several years as a corporate immigration paralegal for a large international corporation, preparing work visa and permanent residency applications. I also earned an MBA in organizational psychology.

Most of my design work is done using Adobe InDesign. In addition to what you see on this site, I have created effective iContact and ConstantContact emails, added content to a WordPress website and, now that I've designed my own Wix website, can add that to my list of skills. I'm excited for my next project.
